Navy Officer Seaman Abbas Released, Disengaged After Alleged Six-Year Detention, Unjust Treatment By Senior Colleague

Seaman Abbas Haruna, a Navy officer allegedly detained by a senior colleague for six years, has finally been released and disengaged from the Nigerian Armed Forces.

In a video clip shared by the Berekete Family, a reality radio & television talk magazine, Abbas’ wife, Mrs. Hussaina Haruna, expressed her love and unwavering support for her husband despite his ordeal.

“Look at his (my husband’s) condition. I love him that way. They have disengaged him. Maybe they think I don’t love him anymore. I still love him,” she said emotionally, standing by her husband.

Hussaina, in her statement, highlighted her faith and optimism regarding Abbas’ future.

“Let relieving him (my husband) from his job be a stepping stone for his success. I thank God,” she added.

The emotional exchange between Abbas and his wife reflected their resilience.

Abbas, in a bid to comfort her, said, “I said you should stop crying. Stop crying and forget everything that happened.”

Abbas was allegedly detained unjustly for six years, a situation that his wife had fought to bring to light.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters earlier reported that the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) had acknowledged a video circulating online, alleging the unjust incarceration of Abbas Haruna.

The DHQ, in the statement signed by Tukur Gusau, Brigadier General, Director Defence Information, reassured the public of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s commitment to upholding justice, fairness, and the rule of law.

“The military court-martial process, though meticulous, ensures fairness, equal opportunity, and justice in accordance with established military procedures and the law,” stated the DHQ.

Reacting to the claims, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Gwabin Musa ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.

“The outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course,” the DHQ assured.
