NBA Constitutes 17-Member Transition Committee, Olawale Fapohunda Appointed As Chairman
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the National Executive Committee has announced the dissolution of all Standing and Ad-Hoc Committees, with the exception of the 2024 Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC). The dissolution comes as part of the transition process following the successful election of a new set of leaders to lead the Association for the next two years
The NBA President, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN, expressed gratitude on behalf of the National Executive Council to the members of the dissolved committees for their selfless service and support during the administration’s tenure. He acknowledged their immense contributions to the Association and emphasized that the Bar owes them a debt of gratitude.
However, the Election Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) and the National Officers Election Appeal Committee (NOEAC) will remain standing until they are reconstituted in accordance with the provisions of the NBA Constitution, 2015 (as amended in 2021).
To ensure a smooth and efficient handover process, a 17-member Transition Committee has been constituted, with Olawale Fapohunda, SAN, serving as the Chairman, and Chinaecherem Nwaubani as the Secretary. The committee comprises esteemed members of the legal profession, including Chief Charles Luri Bala, M. T. Mohammed, Sylvester Udemezue, and others.
The NBA President thanked the members of the Transition Committee for accepting to serve the Association in this capacity, underscoring the importance of their role in facilitating a seamless transition between the outgoing and incoming administrations.
