NDDC Announces N30 Billion Support for Youth Entrepreneurs in Niger Delta
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has unveiled a substantial N30 billion financial initiative aimed at empowering young entrepreneurs in the region. The announcement was made by the Commission’s Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, during an interview at the NDDC’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.
Ogbuku explained that the funds would serve as matching grants to support business growth and youth development projects through collaboration with the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines, and Agriculture (NDCCITMA). The initiative aims to provide essential financial backing, training, and networking opportunities for young entrepreneurs, helping them expand their businesses and create sustainable economic growth.
“We are committed to fostering entrepreneurship in the region and ensuring that young people are equipped with the skills and resources needed to succeed,” Ogbuku said. He stressed that the program would empower youths to move beyond mere stipends and contribute meaningfully to the region’s economy.
The NDDC is also working closely with the Bank of Industry to ensure the sustainability of these programs, which include the NDDC Youth Internship Scheme starting in January 2025. The scheme will offer a one-year internship for youths, helping them gain practical experience and skills in various industries.
