Niger State Police Foil Robbery Plot, Arrest Three Armed Suspects
The Niger State Police Command has successfully thwarted an armed robbery attempt in Minna, arresting three suspects, including a recently released ex-convict. The suspects, identified as Jibrin Ndako, 19, of Barikin-Sale; Haruna Abubakar, 20, of Angwan-Kamfani; and Aliyu Abdullahi, 18, of Kpakungu, were apprehended while lodging in a hotel along the Eastern Bye-Pass.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Tudun-Wada Division raided the hotel, where the trio was found in possession of dangerous weapons, including three cutlasses and an industrial iron cutter. The arrest followed a tip-off about their plan to rob a provision store in Barikin-Sale, Minna.
In a statement confirming the arrests, Niger State Police Command spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun disclosed that Ndako, an ex-convict recently released for motorcycle theft, had masterminded the robbery plot. According to the statement, Ndako met his accomplices in Agaie and recruited them for the heist targeting the provision store.
The suspects are currently undergoing preliminary investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further interrogation and prosecution.
