“Nigeria is Bleeding, Says Governor Fintiri, Criticizing FG’s Economic Policies”
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has voiced strong criticism of the Federal Government’s economic policies, stating that Nigeria is “bleeding” under the weight of severe economic hardship.
Speaking at the National Reconciliation Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with governors from the North-East and other key stakeholders in Bauchi, Fintiri expressed frustration with the state of the nation’s economy.
“Nigeria is bleeding, we are suffering, there is too much anger, and the economic policy is not working,” Fintiri said, adding that the policies currently being implemented by the Federal Government are only exacerbating the struggles of Nigerians.
He urged the government to reconsider these economic measures, which he believes are only increasing the hardship faced by the populace. “That is why we always call on the Federal Government to reconsider some of these economic policies that are only putting hardship on Nigerians,” he added.
The governor went on to emphasize that holding a position of power is a privilege granted by God, underscoring the importance of governing based on trust and responsibility. He stressed the need for policies that would alleviate the suffering of citizens rather than causing more pain.
“The country belongs to us. It does not belong to the World Bank, IMF, or the international community,” Fintiri asserted, calling on the government to focus on policies that are in the best interest of Nigerians.
During the same meeting, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the Chairman of the PDP’s National Reconciliation Committee, acknowledged the party’s internal challenges, which contributed to its loss in the last election. He pointed to disunity within the party as a major factor and assured that the committee was committed to addressing these issues in order to reposition the PDP for future success.
“We are here to interact with our leadership and membership of our great party so that we can discuss where we are falling short of what we were supposed to do, which led to the outcome we witnessed,” Oyinlola stated.
