Nigerian Air Force Sends Fact-Finding Team to Zamfara Over Civilian Casualties

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has dispatched a fact-finding team to Zamfara state following reports of civilian casualties resulting from recent Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airstrikes in the region.

In a statement issued on Monday, Air Vice Marshal Olusola F. Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, confirmed that the team is being led by Air Vice Marshal Edward K. Gabkwet, Director of Coordination and Cooperation in the Civil-Military Relations Branch.

The team will engage with state and local government officials, as well as other critical stakeholders, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the situation and determine the appropriate course of action. The NAF emphasized that its commitment to professionalism and transparency in all operations remains steadfast.

Air Marshal Abubakar reiterated the NAF’s core value of prioritizing the well-being of every Nigerian, ensuring that operations are conducted in alignment with global standards while maintaining the public’s trust.

The statement further assured stakeholders that the Nigerian Air Force will refine its operational procedures to ensure mission success while safeguarding civilians and civilian infrastructure during military operations.
