Nigerian Army Crushes Terrorists in Major Victory Across Sokoto and Kebbi
In a decisive victory over terrorism, the Nigerian Army, under the banner of Operation Fansan Yanma, has neutralized over 20 terrorists and destroyed multiple camps across Sokoto and Kebbi States. The operation, targeting key terrorist strongholds, has begun to restore much-needed peace to areas long ravaged by insecurity.
The successful operations took place across several Local Government Areas (LGAs), including Illela, Tangaza, Gudu, Binji, and Silami in Sokoto State, as well as Augie, Arewa, Argungu, and Dandi in Kebbi State. These regions, previously plagued by terror, are now seeing a gradual return to normalcy as military forces continue to combat the insurgents.
According to security expert Zagazola Makama, operations concentrated on notorious terrorist hideouts within the TSAUNA, BAUNI, and SARMA forests. A significant clash occurred in SARMA RUGA, where Nigerian soldiers successfully eliminated 20 terrorists. The attackers fled the scene, leaving behind weapons, supplies, and shelters, all of which were destroyed by the military.
One of the most impactful outcomes of the operation was the restoration of security in Manja village, which had been deserted for four years due to banditry. With the military’s intervention, locals have begun returning to their homes, expressing deep gratitude for the army’s efforts.
The operations also uncovered a newly established terrorist camp near Mai Hills, which was swiftly dismantled by the troops. The army intercepted critical supplies, disrupting the logistics of the terrorist group. The operation extended into Jaima village, a border community, where collaboration with Nigerien forces proved instrumental in the mission’s success.
Further progress was made in Tafkin Taramna and Tumbukum villages, where ambush sites and patrols were set up to monitor and suppress terrorist movements, preventing them from regrouping.
The ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Army in Sokoto and Kebbi have reignited hope in the communities, underscoring the military’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace to the region.
