Nigerian govt gifts N214,000 each to 14 rescued students of Federal University Gusau
The Federal Government has awarded the sum of N214,285 to each of the 14 female students of the Federal University Gusau, FUG, after regaining freedom from their abductors.
The Zamfara State commissioner for humanitarian and relief matters, Salisu Musa, disclosed the donation in a statement on Tuesday.
According to him, the cash donation was presented to the victims by the minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.
The statement, which was signed by the ministry spokesman, Bashir Kabir, said Mrs Edu was in the state for a one-day working visit to commiserate with the university and the victims.
“Each of the 14 students received a token of N214,285 cash from the Federal Government.
“On behalf of the Zamfara Government, we appreciate the gesture and the Honourable Minister, Dr. Betta Edu, for the kind assistance to the students,” he said.
The commissioner, therefore, expressed the commitment of the state government to collaborate with the federal government in salvaging the plight of victims of humanitarian crises in the state.
The commissioner appreciated the management of the university and the parents of the victims for their patience, understanding, support, and cooperation during the sad moment.
