Niger’ll feed the nation under my agricultural revolution – Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has promised to use Niger state as the starting ground for his agricultural revolution to feed the entire nation.

Obi stated this Thursday in Minna during a presidential rally held at the Polo Ground.

The LP presidential candidate also promised to declare a state-of-war in the power sector if elected president.

He said, “For over 34 years, our failed government has produced poverty and unemployment. We are here to change the incompetent leaders if you give us the opportunity through the election. Vote Labour Party for us to have the opportunity to revive the economy including agriculture and power.”

He urged the electorates to be wary of fake promises, adding: “No more fake promises; chase them out of office. If they give you the money they stole from us, collect it, it is our money, but do not vote for them.”

He said his administration would utilise the vast and fertile farm land available in the state for agricultural revolution, adding that “millions of our unemployed youths will be gainfully employed when I become President with your mandate.”

Obi said the insecurity challenges in the state and other parts of the country will be tackled headlock adding that there will be no religion or ethnic consideration in solving the security challenges facing the country.

Earlier, in a remark, the Niger state governorship candidate of the party, Joshua Bawa, said the state needed urgent rescue under the burden of over N90 billion.

Bawa said the state was under-developed in terms of infrastructure, education health and social amenities, urging the presidential candidate to look into “these problems” when voted into power.
