“No Apology”: Governor Umo Eno Defects to APC, Backs Tinubu for Second Term
Speaking during a ceremony held Friday at the State House in Uyo, Governor Eno said he had no regrets about his decision and was proud to align with President Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria.
“I have no apology whatsoever for supporting President Tinubu for a second term in office, to complete the reforms he has started,” Eno declared.
He recounted his long-standing admiration for Tinubu, dating back to the president’s tenure as Lagos State governor.
“As a young professional working in Lagos while he was governor, I have always admired his style of leadership—with focus and vision,” he said.
“I have no doubt this vigour and renewed energy is being applied to the nation today.”
Eno’s defection marks a significant political shift in the South-South region, as he becomes the second PDP governor to cross over to the APC in recent months.
The move is expected to reshape the political dynamics in Akwa Ibom State and potentially bolster Tinubu’s political base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
