NYSC stepping stone to actualising your dreams – Gov Adeleke to corps members
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has admonished members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, deployed to the State to see the scheme as a stepping stone towards actualising their dreams and aspirations.
He gave this admonition while delivering his address at the swearing-in and opening ceremony of the NYSC 2023 Batch C Stream II at the permanent orientation camp, Ede, on Tuesday.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth, Moshood Olagunju, Adeleke also reminded the corps members that being youths made them Nigeria’s most valuable resources.
While urging the corps members to pursue the right knowledge and commitment to achieve excellence, he reminded them that armed with these, they could dream big and be the change they wished to be.
In his words, “Let the programme be a stepping stone towards your dreams and aspirations. Remember, success is not just about personal achievement but also about giving back to your communities and making a positive impact.
“You are our nation’s most valuable resource, and I believe in your immense potential. It is therefore, our responsibility to provide you with the tools necessary to succeed, and I am confident that the Orientation course will do just that.
“I urge you to dream big, work hard, and be the change you wish to see in the world. With the right knowledge and a commitment to excellence, you can achieve anything. This Orientation programme is just the beginning of your incredible journey.”
He also urged the corps members to be law-abiding, embrace peaceful coexistence and avoid youthful exuberance.
Earlier in his address, the Osun NYSC state coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, revealed that 2,389 corps members were deployed to the state for the youth service.
Obim also revealed that 642 are males, 633 are females, and the remainder of 1,114 were dislodged from Lagos.
He also urged the corps members that the success of the success of their service year depends on their attitude.
“The success of your service year will depend on your attitude, discipline, and commitment,” he said.
He also advised the corps members to always put to positive use their various social media handles as ambassadors of the NYSC, their families and the nation at large.
“Do not use your social media handles to peddle rumours and unverified information; always verify information from the appropriate authority when in doubt,” he said.
