Ogun Lawmaker Urges Governor to Address Inner Roads in Abeokuta
Lukmon Atobatele, the member representing Abeokuta South Constituency 1 in the Ogun State House of Assembly, has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to focus on fixing the inner roads within localities across the state. While recognizing the efforts of the Abiodun-led administration in upgrading major township roads, Atobatele emphasized the need for improvements in the smaller roads that serve the communities.
Atobatele made the appeal on Friday during the commissioning of a street road leading to a hospital in the Oke-Abetu area. He urged the government to extend its infrastructural efforts to ensure that residents of these local areas benefit from better road networks.
“The government has been doing well with the major roads, but there are still challenges with the inner roads,” Atobatele said. “It would benefit the people if others in the community also take the initiative to improve roads. People with the capacity to help should step forward and make contributions.”
Atobatele further stressed that while the government plays a crucial role, the burden should not rest solely on its shoulders. He encouraged citizens to assist one another in improving the living conditions, particularly with road development.
The road construction commissioned was not part of Atobatele’s constituency project but was selected to ease the hardship faced by locals who frequent the hospital.
In his comments, the CEO of the hospital, Fadeyi Olatunbosun, highlighted that while the World Bank funded the construction of one side of the road, the project was left incomplete. He urged the government to complete the remaining 300 meters to facilitate easier access to the hospital.
