The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two individuals, Emmanuel Kostad and Ayomide Damilare, in connection with the theft of items worth ₦800,000 in the Sagamu area of the state.
the two suspects were apprehended on 24 January 2025 after Kolawole Oke reported the theft of several items from his construction site. Among the stolen goods were a block-moulding machine, two metal tables, a rammer, and nine pressers, valued at ₦800,000.
Omolola Odutola, the police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest on Sunday, revealing that after further investigation, Kostad admitted to purchasing the stolen items from Damilare. The stolen goods, including the moulding machine, two metal tables, and one rammer, were successfully recovered from Kostad.
“At about 1:00 pm, one Kolawole Oke came to the station to report the theft of his equipment, valued at eight hundred thousand naira,” Odutola said. “After a discreet investigation, the stolen items were traced back to Emmanuel Kostad, who confessed that he bought them from Ayomide Damilare.”
The police have confirmed that the case will be taken to court after further investigation on Monday.
In a separate incident, residents of Iyana-Iyasi in the Ota area successfully apprehended an armed robber attempting to rob a woman. The suspect, identified as Tunde Adebanjo, was caught at around 6:30 am while robbing Mrs. Babalola Rachel. A locally made pistol and a Tecno phone were recovered from him.
“Upon arrest, the suspect was found in possession of a cut-to-size pistol and a Tecno phone. Investigations later confirmed that the phone belonged to the victim,” Odutola explained.
Adebanjo confessed to being a robber during questioning. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further legal action.
