Ogun Police Detain Officers for Allegedly Demanding Money in Missing Girl Case
Several officers of the Ogun State Police Command have been arrested for allegedly demanding money from the family of a missing girl before they could initiate an investigation into the case. The police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrests in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday.
Adejobi stated that the officers are now in detention, pending disciplinary proceedings. He also assured the public that the police are fully committed to locating the missing girl and have been actively working on the case.
He urged the family of the missing girl to continue cooperating with the authorities and reiterated that such misconduct would not be tolerated by the police force. Adejobi had earlier warned officers against using the name of the Inspector General of Police for fraudulent activities, calling on the public to report any such incidents.
