“Ogun Police Question Olorile of Orile Ifo Over Alleged Assault on Elderly Man”

The Ogun State Police Command has interrogated the Olorile of Orile Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Adewale Ogunjobi, following an incident where he allegedly assaulted an elderly man, Mr. Areola Abraham, and subjected him to verbal abuse. A viral video surfaced showing Mr. Abraham prostrating before Oba Ogunjobi, who could be heard verbally attacking him. The monarch also allegedly shoved the elderly man’s cap off in a degrading manner, which prompted the Ogun State Government to suspend him for six months.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, ordered a thorough investigation to ensure the rule of law and human rights principles were upheld in this case. Both Oba Ogunjobi and Mr. Abraham reported to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran on Monday, where their statements were taken.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Ogun State, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Omolola Odutola, confirmed the investigation and emphasized that the police condemn any form of assault, harassment, or violence, regardless of the individuals involved. She assured that justice would be pursued in this case.
