Okezie Ikpeazu, former Governor of Abia State, has reiterated his unwavering commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urging party members to remain dedicated and loyal as they work toward reclaiming power in 2027. Despite the recent defections within the party, Ikpeazu made it clear that he would not abandon the PDP and would instead put in the effort to ensure the party returns to its winning ways.
Speaking to PDP members from Abia South at his Umuobiakwa residence, Ikpeazu stressed the importance of solidarity and support during difficult times. “We must remain steadfast and not allow the current challenges to deter us. I will continue to support the PDP, as the party has been integral to my political journey,” he said.
The former governor acknowledged the defection of some members following the PDP’s loss to the Labour Party in the 2023 elections. However, he encouraged party members, especially those in Obingwa, to stay focused and remain loyal. Ikpeazu assured them that despite the party’s struggles, brighter days lay ahead, and those who stayed loyal would eventually see the fruits of their perseverance when the party regained its strength.
Ikpeazu also praised the new leadership of the State Working Committee of the party, led by Abraham Amah, expressing confidence that Amah’s leadership would steer the party back to power in 2027.
