“Ondo Man Charged with Gruesome Murder of 65-Year-Old Woman During Robbery”
A man from Ondo City, Fasuyi, has been formally charged with murder following the gruesome killing of a 65-year-old woman. The charge was brought against him during a court hearing on Wednesday.
Prosecuting Counsel, Owolabi Edu, informed the court that the incident occurred on September 16, 2024, at approximately noon, at No. 1 Oke-Itura Street, Yaba, Ondo City. Edu explained that Fasuyi broke into the woman’s home with the intention to commit theft. However, he did not anticipate that the woman would be at home at the time.
As the woman emerged from her bathroom, she came face-to-face with the intruder, immediately recognizing him. In a shocking turn of events, Fasuyi allegedly struck her on the head with an object, causing fatal injuries that ultimately led to her death.
The prosecution highlighted that Fasuyi’s actions contravened Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006, which addresses murder.
Court Adjourns as Prosecutor Calls for Remand
Edu requested that the court remand Fasuyi at the correctional centre while awaiting advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) on further legal action. Magistrate Mrs. R.I. Adelakin agreed, adjourning the case until February 25, 2025, to hear the application and deliver a ruling. She also ordered Fasuyi to be remanded at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Akure.
This case continues to shock the local community, as the brutal murder unfolded during what was meant to be a routine robbery. The court’s ruling on the application will determine the next steps in bringing justice to the deceased victim.
