Operation Hadarin Daji Uncovers Major Arms Cache in Zamfara, Suspects Flee
Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, under Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully seized a significant cache of firearms and ammunition in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, following an operation based on credible intelligence.
The operation, which took place between January 26 and 27, targeted suspected arms dealers reportedly operating from Niger Republic, according to counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama.
Makama disclosed on his verified X account that the troops intercepted the suspects along the Kaura Namoda-Zurmi Road, after launching a covert operation based on intelligence about their activities.
“The suspects were tracked and pursued by the troops,” Makama explained, adding that the suspects tried to escape by driving into the bush. However, they were forced to abandon their vehicle after troops engaged them in pursuit.
A search of the abandoned vehicle yielded two PKT machine guns, nine AK-47 rifles, 13 magazines, 171 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and nine rounds of PKT ammunition, Makama revealed.
Although the suspects managed to flee, security forces are intensifying efforts to track and apprehend them, as the operation continues.
