Osun PDP Mourns Loss of Councillorship Candidate Dauda Nurein
dpThe Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in mourning after the sudden death of Dauda Nurein, its councillorship candidate for Ward 01, Oloba/Atapara, Ede North. Nurein, who was preparing to contest in the upcoming local government election on February 22, passed away on Tuesday following a brief illness.
The tragic news was shared in a heartfelt tribute on Facebook by Akintunde Bello Sheriff, the Senior Special Assistant to the Osun Governor for the Bureau of Social Services. Sheriff expressed his deep sorrow and disbelief, stating, “The Councillor waiting to be elected in my Ward bided the world farewell this afternoon after a very brief illness.”
Sheriff continued, remembering their shared history: “We grew up together in the neighborhood, but Nurein is now gone. We were all together at our brother Olugbenga Akanfe’s house during the New Year festivities, and it never crossed our minds that Nurein’s time on Earth was coming to an end.”
He added, “This is devastating news for the PDP Family of Ede North. May God preserve the rest of us. Goodnight forever Olobe Dauda Nurein. May Allah be pleased with your soul.”
Osun PDP spokesperson, Oladele Bamiji, also mourned the loss, noting the deep affection the late candidate had among his loved ones. “The man is well-loved, as seen from the outpouring of emotions from those close to him. May God grant him eternal rest and be with the family he left behind. The PDP family mourns him,” Bamiji said.
The sudden passing of Nurein has left the party and his community in profound sorrow, as they remember a dedicated and beloved figure within the Ede North PDP.
