Our strike is about workers’ rights – Osun JUSUN carpets national body
The Chairman of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, Osun State Chapter, Oluwagbemiga Olakunle Eludire has said the union is only fighting for the rights of its members.
Eludire, who said that the strike would continue till directives to the contrary, added that the union was not fighting the state’s embattled Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo.
He made this known during an interview on Friday in Osogbo, declaring that whatever decision the union’s national body might have made against the state chapter was nothing anybody could reckon with.
“The statement of the National Headquarters of JUSUN is unwarranted. To the best of my knowledge, our common interests and the improved working conditions of our members ought to be paramount.
“For anyone to be depicting the struggle of our oppressed members for freedom and better treatment as illegal, such a person should also be challenged for conspiracy.
“We are fighting a good course and it is to the satisfaction of our members. At this juncture, the JSC should intervene and sit on all our demands for necessary attention.
”We have not done anything contrary to law. There may be a technical hitch among us. We believe that a drastic issue deserves drastic action and that is why you see us in this condition,” Eludire said.
According to him, the conference of Judges approached the union for a dialogue and rooms have been opened for that.
the National Secretariat of the union in a circular signed by its Deputy President, Emmanuel Abioye, had directed that under no guise should any of its members participate in any illegal picketing, protest or whatsoever.
The JUSUN national body also called on judiciary staff in the state not to allow itself to be used as willing tools in the hands of politicians.
