The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested Ihsanatu Shaaibu and an unidentified accomplice after they were implicated in the horrific abuse of a five-year-old girl, Fa’iza Bala, who is Shaaibu’s stepdaughter. The arrests came after a chilling video of the child’s injuries circulated on social media, prompting widespread public outrage.

The disturbing footage showed the extent of the brutal injuries inflicted on Fa’iza, leading to swift intervention from the police. In a statement shared on his verified social media accounts, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) ACP Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the arrests on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

“In relation to the viral video where a woman identified as Ihsanatu Shaaibu physically abused and caused grievous injuries to her stepdaughter, Fa’iza Bala, a 5-year-old, the suspects have been arrested today,” Adejobi stated.

He assured the public that the two suspects would face prosecution following the completion of the police investigation, with updates on the case to be shared as proceedings move forward.
