Oyo State Court Grants Bail to Key Figures in Deadly School Stampede Case

aomiAn Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has granted bail to three individuals connected to the tragic school stampede that claimed the lives of 35 children on December 18, 2024. The court’s decision was made on Monday after Justice K.B. Olawoyin heard arguments from the defense counsels of the accused.

The trio granted bail includes Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, the principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan; Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, the proprietor of Agidigbo FM; and Olori Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ile-Ife.

The three were initially remanded at the Agodi Correctional Facility by a Magistrate Court in Iyaganku as part of the ongoing legal proceedings related to the deadly incident. The case stems from a stampede that occurred at the Islamic High School, leading to the tragic deaths of numerous children.
