Palliative: Mutfwang introduces Tin City Metro bus
Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang has introduced an intra-city bus service known as Tin City Metro Bus service to ease transportation challenges.
The intra-city bus service said to be subsidised by 50% is meant to ease intra-city movement of citizens to cushion the effect of the high cost of transportation occasioned by the removal of the petroleum subsidy.
Secretary to the State Government Arch Samuel Jatau who disclosed this to Journalists in Jos said: “Already, 14 brand new Luxury buses acquired from Germany have already been delivered to us, we have mapped the routes, and we are trying to clear the city center Terminus to make movement easy for the buses.
“The Tin city metro is meant to reduce the hardship faced by citizens. Transportation is one of the critical sector the people need daily. And so this government consider transportation as one of the way it can deliver palliative at this hard times.
General Manager Plateau Express Service Samuel Gut said: “The buses will cover routes like Anglo D – Vom, Polo roundabout to Bukuru, Terminus-Zawan, British America -JUTH, Terminus – Rayfield, Terminuy-Tudunwada-Lowcost-Wirldlife Park, Terminus-Bauchi road- Faringada and also British America -Angwan Rukuba-ring road.
“The transport fare is N200.00 to anywhere you want to go on Jos city particularly the routes listed above.
“It may interest you to know that the state government is subsidizing the cards and fares by fifty per cent, either far or near the cards go for N200. Also, this is not an elitist approach, but this is the best and safest approach to adopt for control purposes.
“To get the cards definitely will not be a problem because there’s going to be points of sale within the state capital. For a start, we are taking eight routes, but I can assure you that the Governor Caleb Muftwang-led administration will increase the number of buses as time goes on.”
