PDP Blows Hot: Threatens Sanctions Over 2027 Tinubu Endorsements by Party Members

The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has issued a stern warning to members engaging in anti-party activities, particularly those publicly endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, on Friday, the NWC expressed serious concern over the persistent public media outbursts and declarations of support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) by some prominent party members.

According to the NWC, “Such actions violate Section 10 (6) of the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017, which prohibits members from aligning with other political parties or groups in a manner that undermines the PDP or any of its elected governments.”

The party leadership warned that the activities of these members have been causing division, disaffection, and a significant loss of members, which could harm the PDP’s electoral chances if left unchecked.

Citing Section 59 (1) of the PDP Constitution, the NWC announced that it has formally reprimanded those involved and cautioned them to desist or face stiffer sanctions.

The committee further urges all members to remain loyal, focused, and committed to the party’s success, particularly ahead of its National Convention to take place November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
