PDP Condemns Assassination Attempt on Senator Usman, Calls for Immediate Investigation

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has condemned the attempted assassination of Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, popularly known as Mr LA, who represents the Kaduna Central Senatorial District. The incident took place on January 1, 2025, while Senator Usman was inspecting ongoing constituency projects in the Kaduna North Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by Hon. Maria Dogo, the PDP’s publicity secretary in Kaduna State, the party expressed grave concern over the escalating violence in the region. The PDP criticized the government’s failure to prevent killings, maiming, and kidnappings, pointing out that the recent attack on Senator Usman exemplifies the government’s inability to manage security in the state.

“The recent attempt on Senator Usman’s life highlights the government’s failure to ensure the safety of its citizens and elected representatives. This incident sets a troubling precedent for 2025,” the statement read.

The PDP has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the attack, demanding the arrest and prosecution of the assailants and their sponsors. The party also urged for stronger security measures to be put in place to safeguard the lives of elected officials and their families, stressing that such incidents cannot continue to go unaddressed.
