A group known as PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to convince President Bola Tinubu to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arguing that such a move would solidify Wike’s loyalty to the party.
The group made this call in Umuahia on Tuesday, responding to remarks allegedly made by the FCT Minister in which he criticized the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Adolphus Wabara, for praising Abia State Governor, Alex Otti’s achievements.
Emeka Ikpegbu, the National Coordinator of the group, stated that Wabara did not commit any wrongdoing by reaching out to Governor Alex Otti and trying to bring him into the PDP. He then challenged the former Rivers State Governor to prove his loyalty to the PDP by convincing President Tinubu to join the party.
“Wike should first bring his principal, President Bola Tinubu, who he praises every day, to the PDP before preaching to us about anti-party,” Ikpegbu said. “Is there any anti-party as bad as a former Governor and a presidential aspirant in PDP serving as a Minister under APC? How many times has Wike publicly praised President Tinubu yet nobody has sanctioned him for anti-party? Why will he begin to lecture us now on how to sanction members for anti-party?” he queried.
The group further advised Wike to focus on his own relationship with the party rather than criticize Wabara and the PDP governors. They also commended the governors and the BoT for their steadfast position on the political crisis in Rivers State, as well as for affirming Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, based on the Enugu Court of Appeal judgment.
The PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress group expressed optimism about the future of the PDP, predicting a brighter outlook for the party in 2027. They urged party members to resist any attempts to intimidate those working to rescue and reposition the party for future success.
