PDP holds campaign rally on Akure highway
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has prepared the stage to flag-off its campaign rally on the busy Oba Adesida -Oyemekun highway.
This was due to the refusal of the Ondo State Government to allow the PDP use the Democracy Park as venue for the rally.
A statement from the Ondo Government claimed the PDP applied for the use of Democracy Park on October 11, 2024.
It said another support group had already booked and secured approval for the use of Democracy Park on same date.
According to the statement: “The M.K.O. Abiola Park (Democracy Park) is a revenue-generating property of the state government, open to all citizens and residents who apply early and follow the proper procedures to secure approval.
“Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is a refined gentleman, far too dignified to engage in the petty and indecent politicking the PDP has wrongfully accused him of.”
But spokesman for the Ondo PDP Campaign Council, Ayo Fadaka, urged the people to blame what he termed ‘irresponsibility of the pedestrian government’ as the cause of any inconveniences they might suffer during the rally.
Heavy vehicular traffic is expected to occur on the road.
As of press time, security Personnel were seen making plans on how to divert traffic from the area.
