“PDP NWC Reaffirms Governor Fubara’s Leadership, Strategizes for 2027 Elections”
Members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reaffirmed Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s leadership in Rivers State during a visit to the Governor’s residence at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday night. The visit also featured a closed-door meeting between the delegation and the Governor.
The NWC delegation included the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, and was led by National Treasurer Ahmed Mohammed. Speaking after the meeting, Mohammed underscored the significance of the visit as part of the party’s effort to realign its strategies and strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Governor Fubara remains the undisputed leader of our party in Rivers State,” Mohammed stated. “This visit is part of our collective effort to foster unity, ensure stability, and reposition the party for a successful return in 2027.”
He also emphasized the NWC’s full support for Ude Okoye, who was recently reinstated as the PDP National Secretary by a Court of Appeal ruling. Mohammed called on party stakeholders and governors to unite in backing Okoye to ensure the party’s progress.
The NWC’s visit came shortly after a meeting between PDP Youth Leaders and Governor Fubara, aimed at resolving ongoing internal party conflicts and reinforcing his leadership within the state.
The tensions stemmed from the controversial nullification of the party’s Ward, Local, and State congresses, which had been won by allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The congresses were marred by legal challenges, with conflicting court orders and an interim committee now overseeing party leadership in the state following the court’s decision.
