“PDP South East Reaffirms Support for Udeh-Okoye, Calls for Party Unity”
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East zone has resolved to strengthen its unity and focus on internal harmony, following a crucial meeting held at the Government House in Enugu. The meeting, which took place on January 24, 2025, brought together influential party leaders, including Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, former Senate President Senator Adolphus Wabara, Senate Minority Whip Senator Osita Ngwu, and other prominent figures such as former governors and ministers.
In the communique issued after the meeting, the South East Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) affirmed the zoning of national and zonal offices allocated to the region and restated its unwavering support for Hon. S.K.E Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary of the PDP. The ZEC emphasized that the South East PDP remains a united and strong family, capable of handling internal matters without external interference.
The party leaders expressed concern over the challenges faced by the party at the national level and the attempts by some individuals to disrupt the region’s affairs. They also addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the office of the National Secretary, which was zoned to the South East, reaffirming that Hon. Udeh-Okoye’s position had been upheld by the Court of Appeal and that the party would continue to support him.
“The South East PDP is one big family. We are united and capable of resolving any internal issues,” the communique read. “We frown upon any attempt to sow division or create crisis in the party in the region. We stand firmly with Hon. Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary of our party, in line with the court’s ruling.”
The ZEC meeting also resolved to move forward with the zoning of both national and zonal offices in the South East, underscoring the region’s commitment to inclusivity and fairness in the party’s decision-making processes.
As the party looks to restore its political fortunes in the South East and across the country, the ZEC reiterated its resolve to maintain a strong, united front in the face of any challenges.
