PDP’s Tony Okeke Blasts Buhari and Tinubu: “They’ve Taken Nigeria Backward
Tony Okeke, a former spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, has harshly criticized the leadership of both President Bola Tinubu and his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari. Okeke, speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, argued that both leaders have significantly set back Nigeria’s progress.
He pointed out that while Tinubu succeeded Buhari in May 2023, both administrations were responsible for leading the country backward. Okeke declared that the Buhari administration had pushed Nigeria “50 years back,” while he believes Tinubu’s leadership is on track to take the nation “100 years back.”
“The last administration under Buhari took this country back by 50 years,” Okeke stated. “The current administration, I think, is trying to take us 100 years back.”
Okeke also expressed his belief that the 2023 election would have been an easy victory for the PDP if not for the disastrous tenure of the Buhari government. He emphasized the dissatisfaction of the electorate, adding, “The election of 2023 would have been the easiest for the PDP to win because there were eight years of monumental disaster under Buhari’s administration. People were fed up, and the APC had nothing to offer.”
His strong remarks reflect the growing frustration within opposition parties over the current political situation in Nigeria.
