Peter Obi Dismisses Arrest Rumours, States He’s Home in Onitsha
Former Governor Peter Obi has dismissed widespread rumours of his arrest, confirming that he is currently in his home in Onitsha, Anambra State. The false reports about his alleged detention surfaced following a dispute between Obi and Felix Morka, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Taking to his X account, Obi clarified the situation, urging his followers to disregard the fake news. “The recurring fake news on me. I have been made aware of a circulating fake news about my alleged arrest. Let me state unequivocally that these claims are entirely false. I am currently at my home in Onitsha, Anambra State,” he wrote.
Obi further pointed out that similar false claims had circulated in the past. He recalled that during his visit to Rwanda in September of the previous year, there were false reports claiming that the Department of State Services (DSS) had invaded his house. Now, while at home in Onitsha, the new rumour suggested he had been arrested in Abuja.
The former Labour Party presidential candidate emphasized that these persistent fake news stories are being spread by individuals with ulterior motives. He urged the public to remain focused on the nation’s pressing challenges, rather than being distracted by such baseless rumours.
