Police Arrest 2 Suspects, Recover Firearms In Anambra
Two persons have been arrested by an anti-crime squad of the Anambra State Police Command in connection with armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms and enforcement of sit-at-home.
Public relations officer of the state police command (PPRO), superintendent of police, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the police team busted the three-man criminal gang at 3-3 area of Nkwelle-Ezunaka community in Oyi local government area of the state, arrested two of the gang members, and released the third member.
He gave the names of the two arrested suspects as one Chinedu Amah and Prince Nwogu, while the name of the fleeing suspect is Akada, who, according to him, is the leader of the gang. He said that all the suspects are males.
Ikenga, who disclosed the development in a statement in Awka on Tuesday, said the police team carried out the operation jointly with Anambra vigilante operatives.
He said that besides the arrest of the two suspects, the security team recovered one English-made pistol and some other incriminating items.
Stating that the state police command has declared the fleeing suspect wanted, the police spokesman said that the criminal gang members were busted on Monday when their “victim raised alarm about how they held him at gunpoint and dispossessed him of his iPhone and other personal belongings”.
