Police Clear Pastor Adefarasin: Viral ‘Gun’ Identified as Stun Gun
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the object seen in a viral video with Pastor Paul Adefarasin—mistaken by many as a firearm—is in fact a stun gun, not a lethal weapon.
The clarification, shared Tuesday on the Command’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, came amid growing public concern over footage showing the House on the Rock pastor holding a gun-like device while driving an unregistered vehicle.
According to police, Pastor Adefarasin voluntarily presented himself at the Lagos State Police Command and has been fully cooperative. He was interrogated and provided a cautionary statement during the session.
The police recovered the object featured in the video and confirmed it is a stun gun—a non-lethal anti-riot tool that, while prohibited, is not classified as a firearm.
“Pastor Paul Adefarasin, who turned himself in today at the Lagos State Police Command over a viral video where he was seen holding a gun-like object against another road user, was interrogated and volunteered a cautionary statement,” the police stated.
“The object in question is not a lethal weapon or firearm, but a stun gun, which is considered prohibited anti-riot equipment,” the statement added.
Adefarasin has since been granted administrative bail, and police assured the public that the outcome of the ongoing investigation will be made known in due course.
