Power Shift in APC: Tinubu Installs Dalori as Acting Chairman, Ganduje Steps Down

A significant shift in the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) unfolded as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed Ali Bukar Dalori to step in as the party’s acting National Chairman. The move follows the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje, ending days of speculation about his political future.

Ganduje formally submitted his resignation through the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, to the National Working Committee (NWC), bringing clarity to a leadership transition that had stirred uncertainty within the ruling party.

Confirming the development, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said Dalori, who currently serves as Deputy National Chairman (North), would hold the position in an acting capacity until the National Executive Committee (NEC) convenes to appoint a substantive replacement.

“The President has directed the Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, to assume the role of Acting National Chairman pending the meeting of the National Executive Committee, which will be summoned immediately to address the vacancy created by the resignation,” Morka stated.

Though no official reason was publicly cited by the party, insiders suggest that Ganduje’s decision was influenced by high-level political realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Some reports indicated that his resignation is part of a broader strategy to reposition the APC and create room for the return of a prominent northern political figure.

Earlier claims that Ganduje stepped down due to health concerns have been dismissed by those close to the development, reinforcing speculations of strategic party restructuring under President Tinubu’s leadership.

Dalori’s appointment marks the beginning of what many see as a new phase in APC’s internal reorganization, with the NEC expected to meet soon to chart the party’s path forward.
