“Presidency Dismisses El-Rufai’s Criticisms, Says He Can’t ‘Unsettle’ Tinubu’s Administration”
The Presidency has responded to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s persistent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, with Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, asserting that the former governor lacks the power to “unsettle” the current government.
Bwala made these comments during an interview with TVC News on Thursday, where he reassured the public that President Tinubu was not losing sleep over El-Rufai’s critical remarks. According to Bwala, the President is not concerned about opposition parties or individuals like El-Rufai who have been vocal in their discontent with the government.
“Who is jittery? The political opponents have no direction,” Bwala said. “There is no organized political party in Nigeria other than the APC. Almost all opposition parties are trying to find their way.”
He went on to highlight President Tinubu’s approach of reconciliation, noting that in the 18 months of his presidency, he had not engaged in combative rhetoric or attacked his critics. “He has never been seen being combative or aggressive against anybody,” Bwala added.
On the issue of El-Rufai, Bwala said that the former governor’s political influence was only significant when aligned with a “solid revolutionary” leader. He reiterated that El-Rufai remains a member of the APC, and despite his criticisms, he should be treated like a “brother.”
El-Rufai, who has been critical of both the APC and Tinubu’s leadership, has accused the ruling party of straying from its foundational values and undermining internal democracy. He has also claimed that key APC organs have failed to convene for over two years, further deepening divisions within the party.
