President Tinubu Invites UAE Leader Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to Visit Nigeria
President Bola Tinubu has extended an invitation to the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to visit Nigeria. A statement released on Thursday by President Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the UAE president has accepted the invitation and will visit Nigeria later this year.
The invitation was made during bilateral talks between the two leaders on Wednesday night, held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025. President Tinubu had arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday as a guest of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to participate in the Sustainability Week, a global forum focused on promoting sustainable development and collective action to address global challenges.
During his address at the event, President Tinubu shared Nigeria’s position on climate issues and other pressing global challenges, congratulating the UAE President for successfully hosting the forum.
In their discussions, the UAE President expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for accepting his earlier invitation and reiterated the UAE’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with Nigeria. The two leaders also explored ways to attract greater investment into Nigeria.
President Tinubu emphasized that his government’s economic reforms were already yielding positive results, leading to a more stable and growing economy. He encouraged the UAE to partner with Nigeria in further developing its economy. He also noted that these reforms have spurred confidence among foreign investors, with international oil companies committing to billion-dollar investments in Nigeria.
President Tinubu thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for the warm reception he and his delegation received upon their arrival, reinforcing the growing diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations.
