President Tinubu Urges Military to Take War Against Terrorists and Bandits to Their Camps
President Bola Tinubu has called on the Nigerian military to take the fight against insurgency and banditry directly to the camps of terrorists and bandits. His remarks came after the recent attack on a military base in Damboa, Borno State, where six soldiers tragically lost their lives.
The President emphasized that the focus should be on the Northwest, an area that continues to experience persistent criminal activities threatening the lives and livelihoods of innocent villagers.
In a heartfelt condolence message released on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the President expressed his profound sympathy to the military authorities and the families of the fallen soldiers. He praised the soldiers’ bravery and sacrifice, stating that their efforts in defending the nation would forever be honored and remembered.
Tinubu also urged a thorough investigation into the incident, calling for lessons to be drawn from it to avoid similar attacks in the future. He commended the military’s swift response, particularly the effective air raids by the air component, which resulted in the neutralization of many terrorists and the destruction of their assets.
In his statement, Tinubu stressed that the military’s decisive action demonstrated their readiness and capability to confront and defeat security threats. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and banditry, aiming to ensure peace and security for all Nigerians.
“I extend heartfelt gratitude and sympathy to our military and security forces on behalf of a grateful nation. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed, and we stand firmly behind you in this ongoing fight,” he concluded.
