President Tinubu Vows to Lead Nigeria to the Promised Land with Support of National Assembly
President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deep appreciation for the support of the National Assembly, emphasizing that his administration is determined to lead Nigeria to the Promised Land. He made this statement while receiving Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and other key National Assembly figures during a New Year visit at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The visit, which was led by Senate President Akpabio, came ahead of a similar visit from members of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF). Tinubu thanked the delegation for their encouraging words, stressing that Nigerians remain the central focus of his administration’s efforts to foster progress and prosperity. He also wished them a happy New Year, praying for continued blessings for Nigeria.
“The transformative journey we have embarked upon is for all of us. It is for our tomorrow, for the future generation,” President Tinubu said. “We are determined, capable, and resolute. We will take Nigeria to that Promised Land with you.”
Acknowledging the National Assembly’s encouragement, Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to working harder for the country’s development. He spoke about the importance of intellectual inquisitiveness and courageous decision-making, quoting a Yoruba saying: “It is only a courageous dog that will capture the animal in the bush.”
Senate President Akpabio commended the President for his courage and commitment to reform, pledging the National Assembly’s continued support for Tinubu’s administration. He highlighted positive economic developments under the administration, such as the oversubscription of Nigeria’s Eurobond and improved ease of doing business, which have bolstered investor confidence in the country.
“We salute our men in uniform and commend you for your bold reforms. Investors remain interested in Nigeria because of your leadership, and we will continue to smile as the benefits materialise,” Akpabio stated.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, also praised the President for his respect and support of the National Assembly. He noted the unprecedented unity within the Assembly, which he attributed to Tinubu’s responsiveness to their requests.
“Mr. President, the National Assembly today is more united than ever before,” Abbas said. “We believe 2025 will be the ultimate year where every Nigerian will be proud of this administration.”
As the leadership of the National Assembly expressed their support, President Tinubu reaffirmed that with their collaboration, Nigeria would continue its transformative journey, leading to a more prosperous and united future.
