Private security operators in FCT risks prosecution – NSCDC
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has warned that private security companies operating without registration in the Federal Capital Territory risk prosecution.
The Commandant of NSCDC, Federal Capital Territory Command, Dr Olusola Odumosun stated this on Tuesday at the 6-day refresher training course for supervisors and operatives of private guards in Abuja.
The Commandant, who was represented by the Deputy Commandant of the Command, DCC Jackson Igbinosa, lamented the high proliferation of private security without following due processes.
He said the Nigeria Civil Defence as the only agency statutorily empowered to register private guards would ensure private guard companies are properly profiled as security matters cannot be taken for granted for any reasons.
Odumosun tasked participants in the training to take advantage of the knowledge acquired from training to be good ambassadors of their organisations and to collectively work for a crime free society.
He added: “Training and re-training of private guards is very important and timely considering the security challenges facing the country.”
In the welcome address, the Head of private guards company in the Command, Tijani Usman lauded the FCT the Commandant for tackling security threats in the territory.
