Professors and Lawyers Defend Afe Babalola Amid Legal Battle with Dele Farotimi

A group of professors and lawyers, under the aegis of Justice4AfeBabalolaLegacy (JABL), has voiced strong support for Chief Afe Babalola, calling for justice in the ongoing legal dispute between the prominent lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Dele Farotimi.

Speaking to newsmen in Ibadan, the group, which includes Professors Adeyemi Ademowo, Ademola Azeez, Ayodeji Emmanuel, Mr. Femi Alufa, and Rotimi Opeyeoluwa, expressed their displeasure over what they described as unsubstantiated allegations against Babalola. They emphasized that Babalola’s significant contributions to the legal profession and the country should not be overshadowed by baseless attacks.

The group’s convener, Mr. Alufa, alongside Publicity Secretary Mr. Opeyeoluwa, stated that they were committed to ensuring justice for both parties involved in the case. They acknowledged that while Farotimi is a respected human rights activist, his actions should not be excused if they are not backed by facts.

Referring to Babalola’s legacy, the group said, “At 96, we will not sit by and watch somebody tarnish the achievements of a man who has worked tirelessly for what he has today.” They underscored that Babalola has mentored more Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) and lawyers than any other person in the country, and they stand by him in his quest for justice.
