“Sani Responds to El-Rufai: ‘You Didn’t Deliver Votes for Tinubu'”
Former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has strongly rejected claims made by former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, that he played a pivotal role in delivering votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
In a statement on social media, Sani dismissed El-Rufai’s assertions as fabrications. El-Rufai had previously claimed that despite his efforts in securing votes for Tinubu in the state, the president was not keen on having him as a minister, pointing fingers at the National Assembly for blocking his appointment.
However, Senator Sani wasted no time in responding, pointing out that El-Rufai’s narrative was misleading. He posted the official results of the 2023 presidential election in Kaduna State to counter the former governor’s claims. According to the results:
- Atiku Abubakar (PDP): 554,360 votes
- Bola Tinubu (APC): 399,294 votes
- Peter Obi (LP): 294,494 votes
Sani’s message was clear: El-Rufai was not the one responsible for delivering votes for Tinubu in the state. The election results paint a different picture, with Atiku Abubakar securing a significant lead in Kaduna.
El-Rufai’s comment about not desiring a ministerial role after his time as governor has added more layers to the political drama, but Sani’s response seems to set the record straight, leaving little room for doubt about the authenticity of his claims.
