Senate confirms appointment of Iyantan as NPC Commissioner

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of Mrs Olukemi Victoria Iyantan from Ondo State as one of the Commissioners in the National Population Commission.

The appointment confirmation by the Senate followed consideration of a recommendation made to that effect by its committee on National Identity Card and National Population.

The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Abdul Ningi, PDP Bauchi Central, in his report to the Committee of the Whole, recommended for confirmation of Iyantan’s appointment based on the credentials made available to the committee and public service pedigree of the presidential nominee.

The Senate accordingly moved into the committee of the whole for a clause-by-clause consideration and confirmation of the appointment of Mrs Olukemi Victoria Iyantan as Commissioner of the National Population Commission from Ondo State.

In his remarks after the confirmation, the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin who presided over the session, admonished Mrs Iyantan to join other commissioners and Chairman of NPC to move the commission forward.
