Senator Jimoh Ibrahim Claims PDP Governors Plan to Join APC
Jimoh Ibrahim, the Senator representing Ondo South in the National Assembly, has claimed that several governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposition parties are planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ibrahim made the revelation during an interview on Channels Television, where he stated that many individuals had already joined the APC, with more expected in the coming weeks.
In response to questions regarding open criticisms of the APC policies by some members of the party, the lawmaker dismissed concerns, emphasizing the influx of new members from opposition parties. “That’s a one-sided argument,” Ibrahim said. “What about those from the PDP who are joining us? You’re not talking about the people who have crossed over from the PDP. How about Wike?”
Ibrahim highlighted figures like Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, who although still publicly aligned with the PDP, is serving in the APC-led government. He further hinted at other prominent political figures, including governors and senators, who are planning to make the move to the APC.
“Some governors are planning to join APC, of course, I don’t want to mention names to avoid embarrassing anyone. But I can assure you that when I return to this program, I’ll have more updates. You will see governors crossing to APC,” he said.
This statement raises the possibility of significant political shifts within the Nigerian political landscape, particularly within the ranks of the opposition.
