Shettima Heads to Davos to Join Global Leaders on Economic Discussion

Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, where he will join global leaders, business executives, and development partners to discuss the state of the world economy and explore solutions to improve it.

A statement from Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), revealed that Shettima’s visit will involve several key engagements, including bilateral meetings with other world leaders, as well as participation in workshops and forums on economic and investment topics.

One of the major events Shettima will attend is the workshop on the “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank in collaboration with the World Economic Forum. The workshop aims to promote investment in Africa’s frontier markets, helping to build a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient continent. This session will take place at the Congress Centre in Jakobshorn.

In addition to discussions on boosting capital flow into Africa, the Vice President will be present for the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, developed in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB). This initiative seeks to foster public-private sector partnerships to mobilize investment in Africa.

Shettima will also attend an exclusive dinner for heads of state, government leaders, international organizations, and strategic partners at Kurpark Village in Eiger.

A Focus on Africa’s Digital Growth

Further highlighting his commitment to Africa’s economic development, Shettima will co-chair a forum on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa” at the Pischa Congress Centre. This session will focus on the role of digital trade in driving Africa’s economic growth, alongside private sector contributions toward advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Digital Trade Protocol.

Additionally, Shettima is scheduled to serve as a panelist in the “Global Risks 2025” Stakeholder Dialogue, which will explore the increasing volatility in global geopolitical, technological, and environmental risks.

The Vice President will be accompanied by key government officials, including Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, and Aisha Remi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC). Shettima will return to Abuja after completing his engagements in Davos.
