“Shocking Video Exposes Family-of-Four Stealing Laptops in Abuja Shop”
A shocking video has emerged, capturing a family-of-four allegedly stealing three laptops from a shop owned by Vincent Udo’s brother at the Area 1 Shopping Complex in Abuja on Monday, February 17, 2025. The video, shared by Udo on his Facebook page, has since gone viral, drawing widespread attention to the audacious theft.
In the footage, the family—comprising a father, his wife, and two daughters—can be seen browsing the shop, dressed in jilbabs, a traditional Islamic garment. While the father engages the shop employee in conversation, seemingly as a distraction, the wife and daughters are shown discreetly removing three laptops from the shelves and concealing them under their jilbabs.
The entire theft was carried out in full view of the shop employee, who was unaware of the crime until the family had already left the premises. The video quickly spread across social media platforms, with many Nigerians expressing outrage at the boldness of the crime and the involvement of an entire family.
Vincent Udo, whose brother owns the shop, posted the footage online with a plea for help in identifying the suspects. “Help me share this video to go round, please. This is my brother’s shop. They stole 3 laptops worth over ₦100,000. Call this number 08021154919 for further information. This happened today, Monday, 17/02/2025, at Area 1 Shopping Complex, Abuja FCT,” he wrote.
The video has sparked a flurry of reactions from online users, many condemning the theft and questioning the shop’s security measures. Some expressed shock at how the theft went undetected until after the family had left the store.
Udo has reported the incident to the authorities and is collaborating with law enforcement to identify and apprehend the suspects. He is also reviewing the shop’s security protocols to prevent similar thefts in the future.
