Shocking Video Shows Teacher Abusing 3-Year-Old Pupil at Lagos School
A harrowing two-minute video surfaced on Wednesday, showing a teacher at Christ-Mitots School, Isawo Road, Ikorodu, Lagos, physically punishing a three-year-old pupil during a lesson. The disturbing footage, which has since sparked widespread outrage, captures the teacher repeatedly hitting the child five times while instructing the toddler on writing the numbers 61 and 62.
The video shows the teacher’s hand coming down on the young child multiple times, as she orders the pupil to write the numbers. “Write six for me. Write. Six. Six,” she directs, striking the child in between her instructions. The slaps continue as the teacher continues her lesson on the numbers 61 and 62, with no apparent regard for the child’s well-being.
The footage has ignited public condemnation, with many calling for immediate action. Social media users voiced their horror, with one user stating, “She should be arrested with the person who made the video,” while others expressed disgust at the teacher’s behavior and the long-standing issue of mistreatment in public schools.
Many have also called for a thorough investigation into the incident, urging the authorities to locate both the teacher and the school to prevent further abuse. Some social media users pointed out that the child could be struggling to learn and expressed concern about the emotional impact such punishment may have on a young learner.
The incident has highlighted the urgent need for better teacher training and stronger protection for children against physical abuse in schools.
“It is like this. Write,” she said, hitting the child.
“Write six for me. Write. Six. Six,” she continued.
“Like this, six like this. Like this. Now your one. Six. One. Sixty-one. Write.”
Another strike followed.
“Six, it is like this. Like this,” she said, slapping the child again.
“Your two… Six. Two. Sixty-two. Write. Like this… Like this, that is six.”
The video has since prompted widespread condemnation, with calls for action against the teacher.
