Slain Ekiti Monarch Urged Us To Vote APC, Yet Herdsmen Killed Him — Bereaved Woman Tells Gov. Oyebanji

An Ekiti community resident has decried the lack of peace and security following the killing of a traditional ruler in the area, allegedly by Fulani herdsmen.

The emotional woman spoke when Governor Biodun Oyebanji visited the community to commiserate with them after the incident.

According to the resident, the slain king had openly campaigned for residents to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) party during recent elections.

“Your Excellency, during the election, the king sat outside and he was instructing everyone to vote for APC. Fulani herdsmen have not given us rest of mind, they have been killing villagers too, now they are killing kings,” she lamented.

She said despite the king’s APC campaign, the herdsmen still went on to brutally murder him afterwards.

The woman stated that the community now lives in fear and can no longer carry out their daily activities in peace due to the incessant attacks by killer herdsmen.

Several residents have been killed over time while their farms and crops have been destroyed.

The governor was emotional as the distraught woman relayed their plight, promising beefed up security in the area going forward.

Police say investigations are ongoing to apprehend the criminals responsible for the king’s murder and other attacks.
