Sokoto’s APC Takes Bold Steps in Infrastructure and Security, Says APC Chairman
The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto, Isa Sadiq-Achida, has reiterated Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s dedication to fulfilling his administration’s ambitious 9-Point Agenda.
Speaking to journalists in Sokoto on Monday, Sadiq-Achida responded to accusations from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which had claimed that the Sokoto government was neglecting rural communities and allowing banditry to flourish in parts of the state.
In a strong rebuttal, the APC chairman dismissed these allegations as baseless, pointing out that the opposition had no moral standing to criticize the current government, given its own history of poor governance.
“While we are focused on transforming Sokoto, disgruntled figures from the opposition, who failed to make meaningful improvements during their time, are making unfounded allegations and damaging their own credibility,” Sadiq-Achida remarked.
He reflected on the state of Sokoto when the APC took office, emphasizing that the previous administration had left the state in a deteriorated condition. Key infrastructure such as water supply, electricity, and urban roads were in poor shape, he noted. Furthermore, the past government had allegedly mortgaged the state’s central market, but the APC successfully reclaimed it after settling the buyer’s debt.
The chairman assured that the APC-led administration is unwavering in its mission to bring about tangible development and ensure security throughout Sokoto State.
“In less than two years, our government has made significant strides, including the installation of over 520 solar-powered streetlights across 23 local government areas and the construction of 70 rural roads,” he proudly shared.
Sadiq-Achida also highlighted efforts to strengthen security by providing law enforcement with 170 patrol vehicles and 700 motorcycles. Moreover, the administration took proactive measures to combat economic hardship by procuring rice and other essential food items worth N14 billion, selling them at subsidized rates to support citizens in need.
