Suspect Arrested After Burglary and Assault on Female Resident in Ogun Community
A 27-year-old man, David Adediji, has been arrested for burglary and assault following a violent break-in at the home of a female resident in Okorowepo, Ogun State. The suspect reportedly entered the victim’s home on December 31, 2024, through a window, damaging the iron security bars, and struck the woman on the head with an iron rod.
According to a statement from the Ogun State Police Command, the victim reported the attack to the authorities around 7:00 pm on January 1, 2025. She explained that the suspect stole her Techno Spark phone worth over N150,000 and N52,000 in cash from her room. The suspect also injured the victim’s back and leg while attempting to flee the scene.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Idiroko Division led an investigation, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect. Police collected an iron rod and a plank as evidence from the crime scene.
CSP Omolola Odutola, the state police command spokesperson, confirmed that the suspect had confessed to the crime upon interrogation. The police have launched a preliminary investigation and are considering prosecution based on further findings.
