“Terrorist Leader Bello Turji Signals Willingness to Surrender After Military Strike”
General Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, revealed on Friday that notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji has expressed a willingness to surrender, following intense military operations that have severely weakened his forces.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, General Musa outlined how recent operations led to the elimination of Turji’s second-in-command and several of his top lieutenants. This has left Turji with fewer resources and prompted him to release many of his hostages, indicating his readiness to lay down arms.
“The terrorists are often within the communities; the locals know them. So, when information comes in, sometimes they’ve already moved by the time we act,” General Musa explained. “But I can tell you, we’ve taken out his second in command, we’ve taken out most of his lieutenants, and he’s now been forced to release many of his captives. Recently, he has started saying that he no longer wants anything to do with the violence and is ready to surrender.”
Despite Turji’s reported shift in attitude, General Musa emphasized that accountability remains crucial. He stressed the importance of ensuring that those responsible for the deaths of innocent Nigerians, including Turji and his collaborators, face justice.
The announcement of Turji’s potential surrender signals a significant shift in the battle against terrorism in the region, but the military remains vigilant in its pursuit of peace and stability, ensuring that perpetrators of violence are held accountable for their actions.
